#WanderlustWednesday Mt Kenya
Its Wanderlust Wednesday everyone and this week I’m sharing my Mt Kenya experiences. Africa’s second highest peak at 5200 meters, this glorious mountain and its environs offer a multitude of outdoor activities and beautiful spots to discover, so here is a taste as to some of what this region has to offer.
The Ol Pejeta conservancy not only offers an abundance of wildlife that makes for a truly spectacular safari experience, but the reserve is also home to a chimpanzee orphanage and a Rhino conservancy. Both offer you the opportunity to truly connect with wildlife and learn a thing or two about the state of conservation across the region.
The environs of Mt Kenya host some of the most spectacularly lush nature reserves. Ragati conservancy is one such place, hidden in the depths of forest thickets and meandering dirt roads, this little oasis has a plethora of snaking rivers that are the ideal location for a spot of fly fishing.
Where to stay one might ask when isolated in jungle of greenery? Well in hanging tents I discovered. These ingenious and rather comfortable contraptions can sleep two in what seems like a levitating trance.
All in all Mt Kenya and its environs are definitely worth the adventure. Whether its hiking up the mountain, paragliding across the plateau of hills or zip lining through the forests, you will find what wets your appetite.
